Sawasdee ka, Bangkok!!
After nearly 20 hours of transit, including a layover in Manila, Ryan
and I finally landed in Bangkok, Thailand! Once out of the airport we
began our journey by airport taxi to our first accommodation, Penpark Place. Needless to say, I'm pretty sure we were ripped off paying
roughly 550 Baht ($17-18USD) for the cab ride there, but what's a warm welcome
to Bangkok without someone swindling you out of your money? At least we
made it to the hotel alive because I had forgotten about those damn
crazy Asian drivers! Once we settled into our room, we met up with some friends who had already been
in Bangkok for a couple of days. We spent our first night as a group
exploring the famous Khao San Road, catching up amongst ourselves, questionably purchasing "friendship pants", and indulging in Bangkok's wonderful street food (pad thai was only $1 USD!!). All in all, it was a pretty perfect first night in Bangkok!
