I was lucky enough to view the transit of Venus across the sun this week. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it down to Waikiki, where the University of Hawaii Astronomy Department had special telescopes set up, due to work. Thankfully I was able to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity with a few co-workers. It was amazing how many people from the hospital were outside staring at the sun through specialized polar glasses, it makes me so happy to know that there are other people out there just as fascinated with science and the wonders of the natural world as I am! I'm so thankful I had this opportunity because the next Venus transit is set to occur on December 10-11, 2117!
